'Tis the Season for Tablescapes and Toasts!
Merry Almost Christmas! It’s my favorite time of the of year. I have some fun ideas for you in this blog and also a few thoughts (what’s new right?). If you would like to share your thoughts and experiences this holiday, we would love to hear it. If you have any holiday tips, send them our way- we may just feature them! :)
My community tends to emphasize the importance of being around a table together. They speak of breaking bread together like its a precious treasure. It’s been remarkable for my heart to sit with people who value connection and intention rather than overwhelming schedules and mindless social media scrolling. As I have written about before on the blog, and as much of us have experienced- connection in 2020 has been hard. But I also believe it’s been a gift. The gift of deep connecting hearts has become sacred to me. What I once took for granted, I now am teary-eyed writing about how precious my time with the people in my life has become. We are made for connection. We are made to belong. It’s how we are wired.
So we created a few tablescape ideas to inspire you to “gather for the holidays”, no matter what that looks like this year.
Less people, staying in, and staying safe don’t have to be boring!
Make do with what you have, grab a few extras to zhuzh up your day-to-day place settings, and C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E!
Green is my absolute favorite color and pairing it with all things gold and glitzy brings the holiday spirit in full display!
Still keeping the numbers on the lower end, this spread is perfect for a family or a small quarantine bubble that want to hang together til the last candle burns out.
This setting is perfect for me and my friends - we don’t just do dinner, we make our time together last as long as possible. Bold flavors, big laughs, and plenty of spilled champagne…
This intentional spread is for those that choose to gather with their closest person.
It’s intimate and close. In these unprecedented times, “staying in” is the new “going out”! We are taking the new (9 month new) normal we have and created a tablescape for two that brings the vibes of your favorite restaurant right into your living room!
This set-up is perfect for an evening of trying a new recipe, or getting takeaway from one of your favorite local eateries. Helping keep small businesses alive during the pandemic = holiday bliss! YES PLEASE!
And if you can’t gather this holiday season in large or small groups…there’s always a Christmas cocktail. Maybe you don’t feel like cooking, or doing much celebrating, even. Well then make your partner, your roommate, or yourself this delicious cocktail and call it Christmas dinner.
<—— what if these were both my hands with my arms in different sleeves, and both these drinks were just for me? I’m not saying that’s the case, but I’m also not saying its not…
Here is my reflection on this year: I have postured important things to take root in my heart because of the intentionality I’ve experienced in this year. 2020 was the most important year I have had to date. It was a hard year for everyone, but out of it rose fighters and overcomers, people reconnecting deeply with themselves and each other. I’ll tell you that I have high hopes for 2021 (I know we all do after seeing and sending so many 2020 memes). I’m toasting to all of you brave souls who have made it to the end of 2020. Here’s to 2021!
