Courage, “Carpe Diem”, Coffee, and Cozy Vibes!

Brittany Events Co. Blog Post - Autumn 2020

I have some great news... we have arrived at, in my opinion, the greatest season. I won't lie, I'm one of those people who unabashedly loves all things fall. I just had my first pumpkin drink today and recently pulled out all of my warmer clothes. The air is crisp, my heart is full, and now I am contemplating making as much pumpkin and banana bread as possible. Even as you are reading this, I bet you can't help but smile thinking about the cooler weather, warm beverages, and pumpkins everywhere.

As I sit here, hot cocoa in hand, I reflect on how this pandemic is creating cautionary Carpe Diem-ers, the thinkers and feelers version. We've done it. We've sat inside for months, barely seeing people, just stewing in what could be and dreaming up big plans.

But here is also my reality, I just sat with a client today who excitedly shared her plans for starting a new business, and how she's taking tangible steps to make her dreams a reality. We talked about the challenges, the risks, and the many rewards. For months, I feel like I have been in a grind, whether it be physically, spiritually or mentally. Everything felt hard. I lost friendships and momentum for my life over and over again. But in my gut, I knew that this time of slowing down was an opportunity for internal growth. I thought maybe even in these weird times there could be good things too. Maybe this forced rest was unto something.

Maybe this is the exact thing, the right time, to begin opening back up in whatever way we can, going after what we want? To take that trip you’ve wanted to take, if you can actually get there…or maybe plan for it some more…or maybe dream about it still?? Okay, flawed example. Maybe it’s not time for everything, but it could be time for some very important things. Tell someone you care about them, be real about how you’re feeling, get serious about your goals, take that brave entrepreneurial step, or ask for that raise. Whatever it is: a lot of signs point to now being the time.

Humanity coming together - Thoughts on the Pandemic - Brittany Events Co.

Because the world shut down for months and what came out was humanity. Raw. Trying to do its best for each other, learning how to exist together in this new reality, making lemonade out of lemons. I watched videos of Italians singing on their balcony and people in New York falling in love across rooftops and I was captivated by how people continued to Carpe Diem, even amidst a pandemic.

So have courage...to sing off your balconies and fervidly chase goals and swipe right to the guy across the street. You never know what will happen.

Here is my "still in a pandemic but this is my favorite season and this is how I'm coping" list of fall favorites:

Music We're Feeling - Brittany Events Co.

Obsessed as of lately with Spotify’s Warm Fuzzy Feeling playlist…literally gives you the fuzzy feelings! Love to put on this playlist when I’m wrapping my day and starting my evening!

Brittany Events Co. loves peaches with cinnamon, nutmeg and maple syrup!

Modifying Tabitha Brown’s peaches and biscuits recipe to be peaches and PANCAKES! Maple syrup is a food group, right? Try the recipe that takes this summer fruit and makes it your new fall-time favorite!

Brittany Events Co. loves SUITS! Literally watched it a dozen times!

SUITS…My new go-to show has gotten me through this weird time with a lot more confidence and a lot more laughter. Also, I feel a kinship with Donna, it may or may not be the reason I dyed my hair red!

Brittany Events Co. Fall 2020 Obsessions

Love that it’s finally time for layers! Feeling this classic trench coat style but with a fun twist! It’s faux suede fabric is making me feel 100% my own type on paper!

Brittany Events Co. loves a good oat milk latte!

I have started adding a bit of honey and a dash of cinnamon to my oat milk lattes…not exactly a new thing, but if it is for you - YOU ARE WELCOME.

However you are Carpe Diem-ing,

I'm cheering you on from here!
